The Logan Banner and its sister newspapers are seeking a top-quality Executive Editor to oversee the news rooms of the Logan Banner, the Williamson Daily News, the Coal Valley News, The Gilbert Times and The Independent Herald in Pineville, WV.

We are looking for an energetic leader with excellent news judgment, excellent general judgment, and a strong sense of what constitutes compelling content in a locally-oriented community newspaper. We seek someone who can bring fresh ideas to our newspapers and who is capable of, and passionate about, playing a key role in leading the day-to-day operations of the group's news departments to produce high-quality local content on multiple platforms.

We want someone who understands and believes in classical journalistic standards, who has strong journalistic skills and enjoys using them as both a reporter and an editor, and who also has proven leadership skills. Qualifications required include a college education at a minimum, plus successful experience as a reporter, as a professional with excellent command of spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc., and as an editor/leader at one or more community newspapers. The position is hands-on and will involve both extensive reporting and extensive copy-editing in addition to managerial responsibilities. The person must also have excellent people skills, to be applied both internally and in the communities at large. The Executive Editor will report to the Publishers. Other newsroom staff will report to the Executive Editor.

Seeking Executive Director:

The West Virginia Press Association, based in Charleston, WV, an organization of over 85 newspapers is seeking an Executive Director effective May 1, 2012. The candidate must have significant knowledge of all facets of the newspaper industry as well as an understanding of the issues that play a significant role in the daily operations of our member newspapers.

In additions to the daily duties of running the press association the executive director will also be responsible for marketing our member newspapers to businesses throughout the Mid Atlantic and Southern states.
